Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day!
At Dearcroft Montessori School, we honour the land and territory of Canada as we know it today; rich in the history and modern traditions of many First Nations, Inuit and the Métis.
For many years, Dearcroft has been a leader at incorporating First Nations history and indigenous teachings within our curriculum. As part of this ongoing commitment and as we further acknowledge the truth and reconciliation journey, we have been very pleased to have our good friend Doug Pawis, (an Anishnabe elder from Shawanaga First Nation) to Dearcroft Montessori School on many occasions and we look forward to welcoming him every year on Canada’s National Truth and Reconciliation Day, and many other events that we hold throughout the year.
We look forward to Doug’s visit as he shares his story and the timeless wisdom of First Nations teachings.
